Recently I came across James Scholz youtube channel. One thing that really impressed me was when I saw one of his video where he explains why and how he manages to study 12 hours per day.
I was a little bit shocked to know that someone managed to build such a discipline over the years where he is deliberately pushing himself to study 12 hours per day. ๐
I remember when I was studying in high school and college for maximum 6 hours per day and that seemed a lot. Moreover, most of the time I felt like I was pressured to do so by my parents, and very rare when I did that because I wanted to.
How?
After watching James video about how he manages to do it, I understood that I never had a strong Why on why I studied a particular thing or why I wanted to pursue it. And that is the most important thing, it's not the lack of motivation that is the problem, we all know motivation doesn't last long. More important, is having a strong drive, that will keep you going through some really hard times.
Another thing that really impressed me, was that he managed to build such a strict and hard discipline. That is really impressive and I respect him a lot for that!
Is it for you?
Now, do I believe everyone should study 12 hours per day or push themselves so hard in order to achieve their goals?
NO!
And here is why: Not every person has the same goals, thus, there is no need to follow the same path as someone else. We all have different reasons for why we do certain things and what exactly we want to accomplish in this life.
Everyone has a different definition of being successful. For some people being successful could mean becoming the next Elon Musk, for some becoming a Monk, for others becoming a Gardener.
But, what we should do, is to make sure we invest our time wisely in things that will help us get where we want to be. And this is why I think James is such a good example. He managed to define his why very specifically and then, created a plan of action to which he dedicated himself to 100%.
Also, we do have to be aware that sometimes pushing ourselves too hard can backfire and actually slow us down on our path instead of the opposite. So, awareness is the key!
Conclusion
As I said, I really think James is a great inspiration on how to build discipline. I also quite enjoy watching his lives where he is studying for 12 hours. ๐
That was it for today folks! Wish you a great day ahead of you and see you tomorrow!
